The city of Oulu is organizing the Lumo Light Festival this upcoming weekend, from November 22-24. The festival’s artworks will be located in the city center and Hupisaaret City Park.
Admission to the event is free. Some of the artworks are indoors, and there may be queues. The audience is asked to be prepared for potential crowds with a relaxed attitude and patience.
Due to challenging weather conditions, some of the light installations are being set up with a delay, but efforts are being made to have them ready by Friday at 4 PM. Up-to-date information can be found on the Lumo Light Festival website and on the event’s Instagram and Facebook pages.
A large number of visitors is expected at the Lumo Light Festival again this year. Street maintenance will be intensified during the festival. The event will also cause changes to traffic and parking.

Street maintenance has been intensified to prevent slipperiness
Street maintenance has been enhanced to prevent slipperiness ahead of Lumo. During continuous snowfall, snowplowing will start on the main roads. After that, it will move to lower-priority streets, and residential streets will be cleared last. Occasionally, snowplows may need to return briefly to the main roads to ensure traffic flow. Afterward, the plowing will resume on lower-priority streets.
