About the artwork
The rainbow is caused by a natural physical phenomenon when sunlight is refracted by water droplets, forming a wonderful spectrum of colour in the sky.
Apart from this beautiful natural effect, rainbows have played an important role in mythology and arts – particularly in Celtic tradition, where it is linked with treasure and luck. Today, it stands as a powerful symbol of diversity and hope, appearing in LGBT pride flags and, during the pandemic, as a spontaneous emblem of resilience and optimism.
