The Lumo Light Festival Oulu will kick off on Friday, November 18th. The planned location for the artwork “On the Wave of Light” has changed. All light festival installations will be visible from November 18th to 20th, between 4 pm and 10 pm.
The location of the “On the Wave of Light” installation has been changed due to the water releases at the Merikoski Power Plant. The artwork is still situated in the Hupisaari area, but the change in location affects the festival route.
“We cannot influence the water releases of the power plant, but fortunately, the change in our route is only slight,” says Jarkko Halunen, the program director of the Lumo Light Festival.
“The updated route is visible on Lumo’s website, and there are clear signs on-site. By following the arrows, you will stay on the route,” says producer Anna Lanas.
The festival route is accessible to all. However, it is important to note that it is not permitted to wear spiked shoes inside the Oulu Main Library.
The festival may cause congestion in the city center area
Weekend visitors to the event are encouraged to use public transportation whenever possible. Cars can be parked at Kivisydän or slightly further away from the city center to help alleviate potential traffic congestion.
The festival is expected to attract up to 100,000 visitors over the weekend. The busiest time at Lumo is usually between 5 pm and 8 pm.
