The blue morpho butterfly is one of the rainforest’s most striking inhabitants. Its wings shimmer in iridescent shades of blue and turquoise, yet the species lives in an environment threatened by deforestation and climate change.
Rainforest Butterflies brings this fleeting spectacle to Lumo. Hundreds of light butterflies glow amongst the trees, shifting in colour from blue to deep turquoise. The soundscape of the work has echoes of the Amazon rainforest.
A central theme in Anne Bennett’s art is making the invisible visible. Her works highlight the beauty and fragility of nature, inviting us to reflect on what we stand to lose if these delicate ecosystems are not protected.
